In the northernmost part of the Netherlands, Erwin Westers manages Horaholm, a pioneering biodynamic seed and arable farm in Hornhuizen. The farm has been certified organic since 2002 and transitioned to biodynamic farming in 2020. Since 2006, Horaholm has been a pioneer in the Dutch agricultural sector, developing a regenerative system that builds upon and surpasses traditional organic methods. As of 2023, it operates as a state-of-the-art biodynamic enterprise, producing high-quality seeds for potatoes, radish, and wildflowers.

Horaholm maintains a biodiverse living cover for 50 weeks a year, relying on minimal external inputs. This level of ecosystem diversity has already led to significant increases in humidity and photosynthetic activity, demonstrating effective carbon capture. Techniques like shallow incorporation of cover crops through Flächenrotte, combined with rye and vetch mulching, compost teas, and a wide variety of grasses and clovers, enhance microbial activity and soil structure, helping control pests like Canadian thistle and potato beetles. These innovations not only improve seed vigor and germination but also build long-term soil health and resilience.

Erwin Westers also leads the Dutch Regenerative Alliance, providing e-learning and community support to help farmers across the Netherlands adopt regenerative methods at scale.

By investing in Horaholm’s carbon credits, you support a deeply regenerative system that promotes biodiversity, captures CO₂, and strengthens ecosystems. Your contribution helps scale these efforts and ensures that land stewardship today supports a healthier planet for generations to come.
